Holiday Programs
Bits & Boots Pony Rides School Holiday Programs run during the Victorian & NSW school holidays.

A fun day learning all about horse care and riding with other children who share the love of horses. All riders have a buddy to help with anything they need and everyone starts on the lead. We cater for all school age children from complete beginners to intermediate. The day is broken up into four sessions; two sessions on the horse learning riding skills with fun games and a trail ride and two sessions off the horse learning all about horses and horse care with fun activities.

The School Holiday program will cover some of the following:

Induction

Working around and handling a horse safely
-
Horse Riding - Balance, confidence, games, bareback, treasure hunts, trail riding

Grooming – Brushing and decorating the horses
-
Arts and crafts - Sessions will be related to horses
-
Tack care - learning parts of the saddle and bridle and cleaning them
-
Horse care - learning about caring for a horse, board games, float ride and horse trivia
(not all of these things are covered in every session)
What to Bring!!!

Your own lunch; including morning tea and afternoon tea (there is a fridge for the children to put their lunches in and a microwave oven for use)

Water bottle, water to refill is available here

Sunscreen and hat

Enclosed shoes (No thongs or sandals)

Long pants to ride in, tights, jeans, track suit pants etc. can bring shorts as well in summer.

Wear a collared shirt. NO singlet tops

Jacket, in colder months it is always colder than in town.

Riding boots and helmets (if you have them) otherwise, they will be supplied

The original Risk Warning Form with you on the day
Important Bits

All children attending must be school aged. The program will run through the School Holidays.
Full day sessions run 9am to 3pm
1/2 day sessions run 9am to 12noon
​
The School Holiday Program will not be cancelled due to wet weather, but will be modified according to the weather. If extreme weather conditions are expected and we decide it is safer to cancel, you will be notified and refunds will be issued. Remember to dress weather appropriate.

All staff over 18 years old have working with children checks and there is a current First Aider on the grounds at all times.

Town Ride
​
This is an intermediate group ride that we run during school holidays for riders with regular lessons. Please ask before booking to check this ride is suitable. Riders will groom and help saddle and bridle their horse before the ride. We will ride into Jindera and enjoy an ice cream or hot chocolate and then ride back to Bits & Boots. There will be opportunities to trot and canter along the way. This is a 4 hour program.

Booking Policy
All participants must be booked in online prior to attendance, paperwork (rider information sheet and risk warning form) returned and payment made before commencement of the program. There will be no holds on positions, first in best dressed.
An acceptance confirmation email will be sent upon receiving all the paperwork and payment.

Cancellation Policy
There will be no refunds given if you do not show up on the day. If your child is booked in and is unable to attend, a refund will be given if the position is filled by another child.

READY TO BOOK
In order to secure your child's booking please go to Book Online to select the day your child would like to attend. Then click Book Now and you will be taken to a form that needs to be completed. At the bottom of this form please select the Risk Warning Form and print it out. This needs to be read, signed and returned on the day. Then continue to payment. Your child's position is not confirmed until payment is made. A confirmation email will be sent.
